Location-based ad firm Placecast raises another $3MM

Placecast says it will use the cash to continue its development of ‘ShopAlerts,’ a service that sends consumers text message advertisements, based on their proximity to a specific retail location. Ads are targeted by using a combination of user information—including GPS markers, search keywords and browsing history.

The location-based space is the hot web technology right now, with our very own Sean Blanda calling the sector a breakout technology of SXSWi.
