Mobile content—like writing for the web, only more so

It’s a given that you need a mobile version of your website in order to deliver a good user experience on a mobile phone.  But does the content itself need to be tweaked as well? You bet it does.

Assuming you have a mobile version of your site, can’t you just strip out the graphics, images, pdfs and flash and call it a day?  If you want to make your content useful on a mobile device, you’ll need to do more.

To find its way out of the red, the New York Times must begin acknowledging its strengths sincerely. There is no success in uninspired subscription models that already failed years ago. Sean Blanda is right, the Grey Lady no longer commands any loyalty, but that should not be confused with a lack of brand recognition — the Times, like many other large newspapers, still retains a high level of trust and prestige that can be leveraged without erosion of the brand.
